Do You Want To Stay For Dinner
Step through the page and enjoy someone’s favourite meal in their home
Do You Want To Stay For Dinner is a cookbook that includes recipes from my friends and family and an illustration of their kitchen. My goal was to capture a moment or a memory in each of the illustrations. The kitchen is the heart of the house. I believe you can really capture a person through their kitchen and their favourite recipe. I want it to feel like you’re stepping through the page to experience someone’s favourite meal in their home. I also wanted to highlight the importance of light and how it affects the mood of the space. Illustration is my favourite area of design and I wanted to combine it with layout.

Each chapter goes in order of time of day, from morning to night, with three recipes in each. This allows the reader to go on a journey told through light.
Little sketches of items from each person’s kitchen have been used as embellishments throughout the book as a way of stripping back the highly detailed illustrations to their natural and raw form.

Each recipe goes over two spreads. The first spread includes the chapter title, recipe name, a description about the kitchen owner, page number, quote about the kitchen and a sketch of an item from the kitchen. The second page displays the illustration.
The second spread includes the ingredients, chapter title, recipe name, quote about the meal, directions, page number and another sketch from the kitchen.
